The Spice Village Hotel in Periyar is a good accommodation option while on your tour to witness the Periyar sanctuary and its beauty. The hotel comprises of painted bungalows that have a thatched roof made out of elephant grass. The hotel has large verandahs. The bungalows are present amidst the spice gardens of the hotel. The spices from these gardens are used in the kitchen of the hotel.
Covering an area of eight acres, the resort does not have several rooms. They are 52 cottages in all. The buffet that serves both vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies at the hotel is no less than a lavish affair. The meals are served in at the dining hall of the resort. The furniture that adorns the dining hall is handmade, carved out all in rubber wood. Apart from this, there is a restaurant named The Tiffin Room which has antique furniture all made out in rosewood. There is also a bar at the resort so as to keep the guests in high spirits.
The additional facilities that the resort is packed with include arenas for indoor games and sports like badminton. A swimming pool is present at the centre of the park. There is a botanist at the resort who can solve any sort of queries regarding the diverse trees and spices around the resort. The resort houses an Ayurvedic Centre and a Dispensary as well. Boat cruise to explore the flora and fauna of the Periyar sanctuary can be arranged on special requests of the visitors.
